Building on the success of its 2023 edition, EDUtech Europe is gearing up for its 2024 event with the formation of a dynamic Advisory Board. Comprising seasoned education leaders from diverse corners of Europe, this esteemed group is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the upcoming conference, scheduled to take place in Amsterdam on 2-3 October.
With over 300 education and EdTech leaders speaking at the event, alongside 200 pioneering EdTech suppliers and start-ups showcasing cutting-edge solutions, the 2024 conference promises two immersive days of learning, networking, and exploration.
The newly established Advisory Board is poised to bring a wealth of expertise to the table, steering the conference’s program across key themes such as artificial intelligence, pedagogy, campus management, sustainability, cybersecurity, and more. Representing educational institutions spanning the continent, the 2024 advisory board features luminaries from schools and higher education establishments.
On the Advisory Board are:
- Tawhid Chtioui, Founding President & Dean, Aivancity School for Technology, Business & Society Paris Cachan, France
Named in the Top 10 Most Inspiring People in Education in CIO Views 2022 list, Dr Chtioui is an education leader at the intersection of technology, business, and ethics. He is a professor, international expert and entrepreneur in the field of higher education and training. - Laura Knight, Director of Digital Learning, Berkhamsted School, United Kingdom
After her stellar Keynote at 2023’s events, Laura joins the board as the guide in the jungle of AI. Laura is a digital learning and innovation expert with 20 years of experience as a teacher and leader in education. She has been involved in a variety of projects including educational policy review and consultancy work in digital strategy, AI in schools and more. - Yusuf Ibrahim, Assistant Principal – Academic Studies, Sixth Forms & Digital Transformation, Cardiff and Vale College, United Kingdom
Yusuf is an innovative leader working in one of the largest colleges in the UK and a strong advocate for diverse leadership in education. On top of being Assistant Principal at Cardiff and Vale College, Yusuf is also a Board Member of the national Academy for Educational Leadership and the Co-Chair of the Black Leadership Group Wales, working towards eradicating racism. - Prof. Rasmus Johnsen, Vice Dean Lifelong Learning, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark
Rasmus is pioneering models for innovative lifelong learning at the Copenhagen Business School targeted at students of all ages and levels of professional experience who wish to move in and out of formal learning environments. A significant aspect of his focus is on fostering intergenerational learning and collaborations with the business community. - Darren Neethling, Director of Technology, Copenhagen International School, Denmark
At the helm of technology strategy at Copenhagen International School in Denmark, Darren leads on the IT systems and technology integrations that keep schools a safe, secure, technology-driven learning environment. With a combination of both leadership and practical teaching skills, Darren has a great understanding of how to best meet the needs of students, teachers and school strategies alike. - Konstantinos Doukas, President and CEO of Doukas School & Founder and President of School of the Future International Academy (SoFIA), Greece
Konstantinos has been leading educational institutions to excellence, academically and operationally for more than 40 years. He is also the founder and Chairman of SoFIA (School of the Future International Academy) an International NGO focusing on supporting educational institutions and schools in their adoption of global best practices and innovative methodologies. - Une Kaunaite, Director, EDU Vilnius, Lithuania
As Director of EDU Vilnius, Une oversees one of Europe’s leading projects to improve teaching and digitalisation in Lithuania’s Vilnius municipality. Une also served as an adviser to Lithuania’s Prime Minister from 2016 to 2022 on matters related to education, science, culture, and sports. - Jean Wu, Director – Green Office Sustainability Programs, Franklin University, Switzerland
As founding Director of the Green Office Sustainability Programs, Jean leads a team of GO Scholars and drives the office’s sustainability programs. Beyond Franklin, Jean serves on the Advisory Council of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. - Carlos Garriga Gamarra, CIO, IE University, Spain
Professor Carlos Garriga, currently Chief Information Officer at IE University, has extensive international experience in managing Innovation, Technology and Information Systems. He has driven several digital transformation programs in companies and institutions, including IE University. In 2019, the @asLAN Association also recognised Professor Garriga with the CIOs Who Drive Digital Transformation Award. - Joana Simas, Head of EdTech, Inspired Portugal, Portugal
Joana leads EdTech innovation and integration at Inspired Portugal. Most recently, she has been leading the rollout of the Inspired Metaverse School and VR technology where students are guided through a series of immersive simulations that allow them to dive into real-life scenarios and challenges. Joana was also a finalist in the 2018 edition of Portugal’s Global Teacher Prize. - Manuel Bordoy, Deputy Secretary General, Schola Europea, Belgium
Education for sustainable development is one of Schola Europea’s official objectives. Manuel and Schola Europea have been engaged in the co-creation of a complimentary course for international schools on sustainable development and active citizenship, breaking barriers to nurture a generation of active citizens. - Gül Akcaova, Lead futurist, SURF, The Netherlands
With a keen fascination for IT innovation in the field of education and research, Gül Akcaova is the lead futurist at SURF – the cooperative for ICT in (higher) education and research in the Netherlands, as well as the National Education & Research Network. She explores in her role the potential impact of new technologies and emerging concepts on education and research. - Jonathan Butcher, Senior School Digital Learning Coordinator & Data Manager, The British School of Milan, Italy
Jonathan is currently leading in school practice for digital learning, including the staff and student training in EdTech tools and the implementation of home-based learning. He was also selected as a Microsoft Innovation Expert for 2023-2024. - Dr. Beatrix Busse, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Studies, and EUniWell Chief Development Officer, University of Cologne, Germany
The European University for Well-being is not only a project, but also, and perhaps more importantly, a mission and an attitude. Beatrix is a champion of wellbeing in higher education and believes in a holistic approach and one that tackles all levels with students and staff alike. - Ulla Hemminki Reijonen, Director, University of Helsinki, Finland
Ulla oversees the operations at University of Helsinki’s MOOC Center which offers all faculties and other educational institution a research-based MOOC platform. She is also the project lead for the Global Campus, reimagining international online learning experiences with the use of XR and AI.
